By Claudette Lambert

People who own Chinese gold coins are not rare these days. They either have the money for it or they might have traded it for something of equal value. Trading, buying, and selling of such valuables are not rare these days, after all. The person will just have to make sure that everything is in order before doing anything with this.

It is very important to be strict with the handling of this kind of merchandise. This is necessary if the person does not want to be deceived with any counterfeit valuables. The person will endure a huge loss of profit if these products are fake. It should be a given to make sure that the product is an original one.

It is also important to be familiar with the weight of this valuables. The weight is actually the biggest giveaway for counterfeits. Remember that the precious metal is very dense and heavy. That is why, it is fair to say that the said precious metal will weight heavier when it is an original one when compared to the fake ones.

There is a standard diameter for the coin. The person should be able to differentiate the fake ones from the real ones through measuring the diameter. The fake ones will usually have an incorrect diameter and thickness. The coin will either be too large or too thick when compared to the original ones.

There are details to the original ones that will be different from the fake ones. A few of the perfect examples for the differences in details are in the color, content, and quality. Be sure to examine the color and quality closely. For the fake ones, they will easily appear either too shiny or too dull. They also leave a grainy texture.

The ring test will also prove to be helpful to the said identification. If the person makes these metal clang together, then the metal is supposed to give off a distinct sound. Knowing what this sound is allows the person to identify a real coin from a fake one.

There are many types of tests that one should be able to do for the sake of identifying the fake from the original one. The scratch test is one of these tests. The scratch test is even being used by geologists so that various precious metals can be identified. The color streak that the metal leaves behind will show whether it is real or not.

There is an acid test that the person should be able to make use of. This will be a way to ensure that the legitimacy of the said coin is for real. If the said metal is real, then it should not react nor disolve under any kind of sulphuric or nitric acid.

Make use of a magnet. The magnet is certainly the kind of item that the person will have to use in order to identify the authentic items. If the said item is real, then it will absolutely not stick to the magnet. The Chinese gold coins are non-magnetic so they will not stick, no matter what.
